About the Campaign

In the past, Water to Thrive has partnered with Austin schools, such as Canyon Creek Elementary and UT Elementary, to sponsor wells. To raise money, Canyon Creek sold baked goods and crafts made by students and UT Elementary sold t-shirts and postcards that students designed. They met their goal with the help of matching funds from Water to Thrive donors during Amplify Austin, an annual event held to support local nonprofits.

This year, we’re excited to extend our partnerships with schools to achieve our goal of funding a well for Kiyogaanyi. Currently, they have two water sources, but both are contaminated and far from the school. As one student writes, “Our source of water at school is a well. But this water is not safe and clean. If we happen to get a clean safe water source, it will save us from walking daily to fetch water, missing lessons and getting diseases.” A new well would provide clean, accessible water, making for happier, healthier students. In order to fund this well, one of our faithful donors is generously willing to match $0.50 for every dollar raised by area elementary schools.

Holding a fundraiser for Water to Thrive is a great opportunity to educate students and the community about philanthropy, Ugandan culture, and the water crisis. We appreciate your help as we strive to bless these students with the gift of clean, safe water. The positive impact is immeasurable!
